To avoid receiving a false negative response, a woman should wait a week past her missed period before testing. By waiting, she ensures the hCG in her system is detectable.

If a woman gets a negative response but does not get her period, she should wait another week and test again.

In cases where women do not track their cycle or have irregular periods, it can be challenging to know when to expect their period. In this situation, a woman can expect accurate test results two weeks after unprotected sex.

Ultrasounds are simple, painless, and relatively quick imaging tests that provide essential details about your pregnancy. They are vital in your decision-making process. If you are thinking about the option of abortion, you will need to obtain an ultrasound as proof of pregnancy. Ultrasounds help to confirm the heartbeat of an embryo, if the pregnancy is in the right place, and help determine how far along you are. The information will empower you to make the best decision for you.

At Lilli Women’s Center, all our appointments are free and confidential. We strive to offer the quality medical services you deserve in a welcoming and nonjudgmental space.

Feel free to bring a support person to your appointment, as many women find this adds to their comfort. In addition to receiving pregnancy testing and ultrasounds, you will receive information regarding your options and resources.
